MASON'S SWIMMING LESSONS

This year we put Mason in swimming lesson to try to get him used to the water and not be afraid to go under or get his face in the water. (He loves to swim if you hold him or if he uses a floaty but he is getting old enough to start being brave.) So here they are learning to kick there legs.
He is suposed to be swimming and kicking he legs but he is just doing the arms. But He was in the three foot and had to go under water and blow bubbles before he started out, so we were very happy when he went under by himself, that we didn't care if he didn't learn to swim very well, we were just glad he accomplished one of his fears.

Learning to float, while they support there heads. He has a shark that they have to go find in the water and swim back to there spots and float, while being as still as they can so the sharks don't get them. But it looks like the shark got Mason.

On the last day they let them JUMP off the diving board if they wanted to. We didn't think that Mason would end up doing it. He told us the day before while watching the older kids going off the diving board that he was going to FLIP off. Then when it came down to it he said," I will just jump." Sure enough we was excited to go that he told the guy behind him," Don't help me I know what I am doing." Sure enough he ........... JUMPED!

When he landed he went on the teachers head. She said," Jumped to my hands." He just wanted to jump farther. He asked to jump one more time and we all said," you must jump to her hands." But sure enough he landed on her head. But she was all right and he had fun. He still can't swim on his own very well but we feel that he has accomplished alot in the 1 week that he had swim class. He nows wants to go under water all the time. So money well spent.

  1. Ashley, thanks for being so diligent about putting pictures on your family blog. I don't live close enough to see all their cute happenings, so your blog is GREAT! I love seeing all they do with your picture postings. Thanks for being the super blogger--this grandma loves it!!!

  2. I didn't know there was a pool up there? My girls go swimming a few times a week at our pool and at my mother-in-laws. Sam, who is 5, has to hold her nose to jump into 3 feet of water with floaties on. Jace, who is 3, will jump from the highest rock on my mother-in-laws waterfall with floaties on NOT holding her nose. if i left her over there for a weekend i bet she would be swimming by herself.
